"But why the furries ?"

That is what you must often read concerning this piece of work. I don't know wether you're into this so-called furries fad, and even if you were, I wouldn't judge you or your work depending on this factor, but I know one thing, the design of the characters if very much flawed. For one thing, adding ears, or making an anthropomorphic cat out of nowhere is really what taints this movie for me. And it may very well cause people to disregard this film. That's one thing. The other, as some already noted, is the relative dullness of the environment, everything is way too clean and polished to look real, though I must admit you've got impressing modeling skills, and an eye for urban environment.

Parallel to that is the colour scheme, which is very basic and gives a rough-feel to the world, as if you hadn't finished it yet. As for the story, well, it's too cliché and mellow for my taste. But again, I don't think you're into brutal, mindfucking or sheerly bizarre scenarii. However, in the end, that such a promising 3D animator is on Newgrounds is note-worthy at the very least.

LenZ responds:

Thanks for the review! yhea I do regret that I could put more effort into the background textures now that I understand this experience. And I never fazed with the question for furries when making this lol As long as they tell a story or do something Micheal Bay-ish

Well, I'll tell you what, I have no idea why in sanity's name this has been frontpage'd. First of all, the sound is not synced. Now that is quite obvious and obnoxious and I don't understand how could anyone get over that. Plus, the voice acting was quite weak, and the sound was amateurish. Oh, and you used the Wilhelm scream, that's a flaw in my opinion, since it's overused today, and not funny anymore. The animation was basic but hey, it wasn't too bad, that's why you earn 2 points.

Also, it's furries, but at first I wanted to give it a legit try and told myself "Nah, maybe it's just some guys using anthropomorphic animals as characters, which is common, even outside furries". But no, these are lousy, shameless furries. You see, when people use animals as a replacement to humans, it's often because they will to do something around that, playing with the fact they're animals and not humans. In case of the furries, there's no such discrepancy between animals and humans.

Finally, you put "Comedy-Parody" under the genre. As far as the parody goes, I can't really of what this movie could be a parody. Western Spaghettis ? But you're not parodying anything, as much as it's a pretty basic, regular and full western movie itself. Except worse. As for the comedy...well, it might be funny for, uh, yourself, that must be about it. Shit man, you're 22 (at least your profile says you are) try something more mature if you want recognition.

KFoxyFox responds:

You have the right to be wrong ;)

Most underrated artist on this site much ?

I saw Lincoln walking around in pain

All of it is pretty cute (in fact, not even that) but terribly flawed.
Shortly resumed, the animation is almost absent, there's not really anything going on, and I would have called your age as an excuse, but on your profile you say you're 17 while you're said to be 13 in the description. People lying on their age aren't doing a smart move.
Now, the big problems. The storyline, as it's told by the song, is already a mish-mash of sickly sweet sentiments arranged on sickly dull jap-pop. That first, is a flaw. Choosing a mediocre song to make a video upon.

The other issue about the storyline is how you reenact it. With...cats.
First of all, those cats look like bears. Seriously. And if those were said to be bears, I'd have said they looked like cats. See the problem ? So,yeah, why cats ? I do know cats are believed to be cute and please most of Newgrounds community since it's composed by preteenagers. But heck, it's lame, there is no reason for them to be cats since they are anthropomorphic. You could have taken a couple of shit pickles and that'd have done the trick. And to fill the plot holes of the song you typed text. Understand me, you TYPED text. This is always very ugly in a flash animation. And you put dots at the end of sentences, which, while grammatically correct, is twice uglier when it comes to esthetic. You should have written the texts.

And eventually, there is nothing enthralling about this. From the first screen showing that cat running to the ending where you see the cats sleeping. And why ? Because it's so cliché. Unoriginality can bring you popularity, but never critical acclaim.

k3ltr0n responds:

YEAH AND FUCKIN MAGNETS... HOW TO THEY WORK?

You're seeking the love I'm using my force

In preambule, I'll tell all the retards here that white and black are both a shade of orange since they are a shade for every colour.

And now to the beef, this is a bad collab. By bad collab I mean it's the regular collab you see on newgrounds, just a bunch of untalented artists who make a flash about a shared subject, and then just gather them all together, but they never WORK TOGETHER which is the basis of a collaboration. Oh well, untutored youth. But seriously, apart from CarrotCake's marvelous submission, the rest is worthless. It's poorly executed for every of them though sometimes there is a good idea pointing at the horizon, but you guys have no idea how to use it. And sometimes it's just plain dull, for example Tim's submission.

However, as I said, carrot cake's submission is so good I would probably give it a 9 or a 10 if it had been released as a standalone, but drowned in this mud, it almost loses its greatness. Almost.
If you guys want to improve, next time WORK TOGETHER on a unique movie and this, will be at least interesting.

JKR responds:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, but I think you missed the point of this collab. It isn't to work together, it's to glory in the differences that appear when you're given a common theme and DON'T work together. To see the variety that ensues as a result. And to grow as an artist, because working with a specific color pallet makes you change what you might otherwise do. It is also a series that began half a decade ago right here on Newgrounds. It is specific and it is not about working together, but coming together with the differences that make us unique as individual artists.

I have no doubt it was NOT "worthless" as you claim, for several people already have said they enjoyed it. Since they derived joy from simply watching it (and we the authors improved our skills simply by creating it) it is impossible for it to be worthless.

Again, thanks for sharing your opinion and leaving a review. I'm sorry you didn't personally enjoy it, but I'm sure there's plenty around Newgrounds that you will. :)

Mr. Wobble, your son is dead

In preamble, I'll say it's funny (and a tad sad) how everyone now notices and your movies and your talent since your frontpage hit with Pigpen, albeit your stuff has always been very good.

And now I'll say that the animation is great, as usual, with some slickness that became your tademark. You worked the unseen forces theme in an interesting way, however, I can't really say much more since you admitted there was no meaning, which is a point against you, because one could say a lot about this little flick. But now it seems useless, and that's seriously too bad.
Nonetheless, I am aware that finding an excellent plot with a deep meaning under 48 hours isn't exactly an easy thing.

SpamClamberton responds:

Well to be honest I'm not big on 'meaning', and I don't think I should be. My art and animation is an oppurtunity for me to create new things that have never existed. Trying to shape my ideas around morals or lessons sorta stifles them. Even Pigpen, while it was made to make people think, it wasn't about anything real. It was about 'what if addicts were forced to buy their drugs with flesh', and being pushed to murder or to let themselves be cut up. Creating new is more fun to me than symbolising old I guess.
I suppose that's my excuse for just doing fun stuff, but then again if it wasn't fun I wouldn't do it. :P

My gums are so itchy I bled them

Oh yeah, what ? What is that. Some unfunny, not even random, uninspired, badly voice-acted, badly drawn, badly animated badly [put your own adjective here] clips. Seriously, it looks like you took the most minor animators here to make this collab. Yotam deserved better than that right ? I thought there was going to have some story or at least, a thread that the animators would follow. But not, as every freakin' collab on here, it's just a random addition of videos (and not an addition of random videos, I emphasize the random aspect, because Lazymuffin is famous for the randomness of his vids, however here, there wasn't any).

If you wanted to make a good collab, you should have focused on the army topic, which, to my surprise, isn't much present here. And also, the jokes fall flat. Okay, let's say that already, the best parts were the transitions, those were great, and the last clip, which was pretty funny. The rest is worthless. Don't blame me seriously, just stay objective and watch, the jokes are what a 10 years old kiddo would make. For example, the clip where that guy makes a long monologue for Lazymuffin but oh, ROFLOLMAO, he got drifted before he finishes. Seriously, for all I am trying to fing the humour in those videos, I just end up facepalming.

And then I wonder, why the frontpage ? Because it talks about Lazymuffin ? Then why not putting any Egoraptor's movies parodies on the frontpage ? Back the point. It is not a collab. A collab is a "collaboration", that means you must work together, not sticking together pieces of loathable prepubere humour. That said, the transitions are still awesome.

turtleco responds:

I'm not gonna lie I didn't like this collab either. you have to admit the first 2 parts are pretty good though.

glad you liked the transitions I made.

White whale holy grail

While this is still better than the usual poorly animated movies around here, this is neither interesting, shocking nor funny. And the music reminds me a lot of Rayman 3 Hoodlums Headquarters'. Plus the text boxes are ugly, you might want to avoid that and use a better font than this Times New Roman or whatever it is.

Lord-Desolator responds:

Yeah I could do some more imaginative text boxes in the future, so thanks for the suggestion.

94 Diskont

It's hard to give a good rating to this, unfortunately. I don't hate it, but objectively, it falls flat on every level. The "quadriplegic amputee" idea is most likely either taken from Nameless character, either inconsciously inspired by, which, in both cases, thus not an original concept. The comedy was dull. There are barely jokes about the fact he's paraplagic. And the final "joke" is not even based upon that ! A joke that slices off the guy's head ? Maybe I fail to see the humour there, sorry if I do, but I anyway that's not really funny in the context. I mean, why would you need a paraplegic amputee for that joke ? You could have used a mentally retarded albinos that wouldn't have changed anything.

As for the animation, it's alright, you worked on that at least, albeit the drawing is poor. And use a best voice actor, the voices sounded so unmotivated.

fluffkomix responds:

the main joke about him slicing the guys head off is a subconscious one where if you think about it long enough you'll realize that since he has no arms or legs, he has no need to balance, and therefore he can't fall off, or maneuver the surfboard.

Strafter farder benger hatter

Your movies are so underrated. Everything is so slick and stylized. Why do I even need a reason to give this short the highest score. And for all your flicks indeed. Burp.

mrnihil responds:

thanks, i owe you a sake bomb.
